About me
I consider myself to be a person in pursuit to strike a balance between four burners of my life – Health (food and fitness), Family-Friends, Work and Hobbies (photography, cooking, working with NGO’s, etc.).
Hi, I am Ashish Dewan, a proud Indian, living in Netherlands having a blessed life. After finishing my schooling in my home town (Chandigarh) and graduation (Vellore Institute of Technology) in India, I ended up in this charming country of Netherlands in August 2011. Following my passion, I studied Sustainable Energy Technology specializing in Wind Energy, and have been fortunate enough to be part of a large Swedish Utility whose mission is to “be fossil free in one generation”. You will always see a broad smile (and some words like Wow..!! ) on my face with a landscape filled with wind turbines.
Besides my love for wind energy, family is one thread for me, which supplies me my emotional energy. Although we are thousands of miles apart, there hasn’t been a single day since last 15 years, while I have been away from home, that we haven’t spoken to each other. My mornings have to start with “Good morning Mom!”. This constant support is what has helped me to identify my passion for wind energy, food and photography among others.
Journey of Food4Life
My journey of cooking food began in 2011, out of sheer survival instincts. It started with trying some of the mom’s recipes which grew with YouTube recipes. By then, I did realize that not only did I cherish cooking or having delicious food, it was also about cooking for people and enjoying my time with them which gave me a deeper sense of fulfilment. That’s where the seeds of Food4Life were sowed.
Fast forward to 2015, I am done with my masters and working, where together with some interns, a WhatsApp group was created, which is still active even now. The idea that began with hosting dinner for interns and colleagues and a need to build connections, was sustained due to the shared love for food. This small initiative turned out to be a regular practice of coming together and having numerous gatherings at my place. Remembering those evenings still give me an influx of positive energy. Over the years, the concept grew, to include people from all walks of life, a feeling that I coined as Food4Life. Food for me became a tool to reinvent myself, find an identity in Netherlands, and make long lasting friendships.
With Food4Life, I intent to share my roots and culture among the global society, and bring people closer to each other in a collaborative way of living. So, join me in this movement of carrying the ‘Spirit of Togetherness’ and get connected through a simple bond of Food.
“Food is an emotion. When you combine skill and love, something magical happens”.
